For once I agree with good reads. This was historical fiction book of the year for 2025 and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a book about astronauts/space and also a love story (this part I didn't know going into it). I felt that the authors ability to express each individuals personality/lifestyle/character was the best part. As you see above if I had to cast Vanessa and Joan I'd pick these two people. One is Catherine Keener and the other is a cycling coach on FDJ-Suez. It's random but that's who I thought of as I read this. I'd be curious what other people pictured. On top of it all it also gives you a sense of motivation and desire to do more while also offering up a different perspective of life and how some people live. Maybe space just has that power with how expansive it is.

I think my only gripe is at about the 2/3 mark the pacing felt quick almost like she was worried about taking to long but I think the author could've expanded more upon certain events other than that all good. Again I probably wouldn't recommend it to my Dad, mainly because of the love story which is a substantial part, but if you think this might be interesting to you then yeah you should read it, it's good.
