Jon Krakauer - Under the Banner of Heaven - 2003

True CRIME - Under The Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer, 2004, (English ...

First of all I'm on fire so I pat myself on the back. I am writing this review from mom and dad's house after the Christmas party.

I will try to be brief on this one since I have been writing a lot lately.

1. The foundations of Mormonism/LDS is bs sorry not sorry.

2. If you meet a fundamentalist mormon get the f out of there. They could talk to God and God could tell them to attack you or worse.

3. I am not against polygamy in principle and I don't understand why it is a felony in most states in the US. If the polygamy is consensual and there is no assault, rape, or incest involved who cares. I mean "players" are praised for sleeping with a bunch of women. If the women are not brainwashed and are of age and everything is consensual then I have no problem with polygamy.

4. My observation is that it is hard to be a woman. I do not really mean anything by this other than that in the books I have been reading lately the woman/women are consistently tricked, brainwashed, assaulted, killed, abused, or otherwise treated unfairly by men. Maybe I am just reading dark books.

5. So finally, yes read this book but if you have a weak stomach do not read it. Some of the crime description in this book are super graphic and very sad. You have been warned. The people in this book (who really live/lived) are some of the weirdest I have ever read about ever (and I have read about some weird people).

6. Last thing: I am convinced that right now you could declare yourself a prophet, start writing down what God tells you and soon have your own prospering church with many followers and lots of money. This is essentially what the mormon leaders did. I am amazed at how gullible people are.

Peace! Happy reading!!!
