The Last Empress: Madame Chiang Kai-shek and the Birth of Modern China - Hannah Pakula - 2009

I read this probably 8 years ago either in Arlington or on the bus to and from IMF or at lunch at IMF. It is a long book (816 print). I probably could no longer read this book because the print is too small. It is nonfiction.

It is not that memorable. I remember reading about the poverty of China, some typical family gossip/fights, and how Chiang Kai-Shek lost China and ended up with nothing except Taiwan. There is some interesting information about Soong Mei-Ling and her family.

Since I do not remember much, that is a sign that the book is just ok. page it if you have a strong interest in China, but probably mostly shelf this one.
