Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card - 1985

I read this many years ago. I still remember it which is a good sign. I did not watch the movie yet (only bits and pieces of it). I did not realize this was published in 1985. Given its publication date, it is more futuristic than I realized. It is Kwame Darko's favorite book (thanks Kwame for this information).

It has a good science fiction plot. I really enjoyed the battles between the teams and the strategy employed by Ender. I can't say I really liked the ending that much. It is a cool twist I guess, but to me it was ok (perhaps there is a greater meaning that I missed).

In any case, this is worth reading if you like science fiction/space/aliens/battles. Tell your kids (probably 10 and up) to read it and then watch the movie as a family. I should probably read this again as it has been a while. I think books take on a totally different meaning to the reader depending on the age of the reader (and also depending on what is going on in the reader's life at the time of reading) That is very cool and is the magic of books!!

I am going to time stamp this entry. It is 3/21/2024 (julia turns 22 today). I just got back from working at UPS warehouse this morning. I am 31. Gas is around 3.6 a gallon. Duquesne plays in march madness against BYU today at 1240. This is the first time they have made the tournament in 47 years. Their coach, keith dambrot is retiring after this tournament. He coached Lebron for two years when Lebron was in high school. Biden is president. It is an election year. The dow jones is near 39k (super high). Bitcoin is near 65k (super high).
