Greenlights - Matthew McConaughey (SG)

What a joy of a book. This book wasn't earth shattering or anything insane but just a great overall piece of art. He has his own unique style of writing with poems and images that he stuck with throughout the book which was a nice touch and also the manner in which he wrote was easy to understand and he didn't go off on tangents or tell us WAY too much detail. It was just enough and then he moved along. Learning about him was a lot of fun especially when you know a small bit just from his movies. You get a behind the scenes look and honestly gives you hope for all Hollywood types of people since he seems like a genuinely good guy. For some reason I felt like I could relate to his view of life and living. He desires to understand things at a deeper level, he holds out hope that there is more to life than just simple living and if you can go to the extreme you can uncover it. He also has a big emphasis on values which I to agree with. I'd recommend a lot of people to read it because it's kind of like the perfect story of growing up. He had tough parents but they loved him, he had a harder upbringing but it was because of just life struggle, he made mistakes but he was just living and in the end it all worked out. My only issue with this book is that in one of the section he talks about a family emergency but doesn't give any detail. If you are going to add it to the book about your life you have to be completely transparent or just leave it out.

A glimpse into what it would seem to be a level headed hollywood start with a fun upbringing as he traverses life and understands who he is. This isn't a crazy amazing book but it's really good, light and enjoyable. I'd recommend it to others.
