God Sent the Dog - David Childers

 

A very unique and interesting book. It was written by my baby momma's brother's dad who is not in his life and has not been in his life for years. My baby momma's aunt gave me this book to read (idk y jajaja). They should have read it, not me. It is a very long book. It is a very good book. I have never read a book like this. It is self published meaning David is not a real author. The grammar and spelling are questionable at times. The authenticity is great though. 

Basically you learn all about his life. He was an undercover cop for a while. He worked in a coal mine in south park (he says the middle school is built on top of it which I believe is correct). He was an international police officer in Kosovo and Afghanistan. He helped bust someone for marijuana while he was on vacation in Jamaica (why he did this idk). He punched someone at a Bob Dylan concert (he has really bad ptsd). He really loves Bob Dylan. He got a few women pregnant (including my son's grandma) and then left. I think he is still with his wife from Kosovo and they live in North Carolina now with the dog and his other son. However he was having problems with this wife too so I am not sure what the current status is. 

There is a very interesting segment where the embassy won't let his wife (Rahime I think) come to the U.S. from Kosovo. He writes a letter to Rick Santorum (his senator) and Santorum helps him out. I think the state department or one of the presidents tries to help him too, but I do not remember. He had some military training, but I believe he never finished it. He has a twin brother. His wedding reception was at Al's cafe (where i worked lol) and the police were called apparently. I will have to ask maureen about this (lol). 

Anyways now I know all the family gossip jajajajaja. The family should read this book, but I guess they are too lazy and dont care. I contacted David and said I know his son and he sent me a friendly reply. I was up late at night reading this because it was so interesting (that doesn't usually happen).  

page it for sure!! a very authentic and unique story. If I write a book of my life one day, I hope it will be something like this one.

    So unique but yeah I'm sure the authenticity is off the charts. This also makes me think I have a boring life but maybe there is more to come.

  I can’t say it is a good sign that I am reading this book. Jajajaj It is an embarrassment mostly but anyways knowledge is knowledge right? Jaja I can’t say this book was super helpful or matched my experience really. In some cases I disagree with the authors.  I think the main surprise of this book is the overall portrayal of women. I thought since it is 2026 women want to pay for the first date and aren’t emotional and don’t want to hold your hand and and don’t care if you hold the door for them and want to take control in sex and other relationship matters. This is what I get from watching tv and hearing about women wanting more equality. But this book basically says the opposite based on their studies: essentially that men have the power in the relationship and that women are fragile and need to be held and listened to. The Blind Side - Michael Lewis - 2006

  If this was basketball I would shoot a 3 cuz I need a heat check jajaja. Much better than moneyball. Not as good as the big short. He has another book called going infinite that is about crypto that I want to read but I cannot find it on Libby for some reason.  The main thing I learned from this book is that who you know really matters and that having money really matters. These people got Michael out of the hood by accident and used their vast wealth and connections to help him make it to the nfl. Without their help he could have easily ended up dead or flipping burgers.  This book was a bit mean at times. At one point it says Michael would likely never read a book for pleasure because he was not good at reading. lol  I honestly believe the Tuohy family helped him without any malicious motives (however there is definitely some doubt, read the whole review). Choose Strong - Sally McRae - 2023

  Well where to begin? Thank you to Rachel Leach (soon to be Bowling??? :) jajajajajajaj lol) for gifting me this book. Also no thanks to Rachel Leach for giving me a hard copy book (jajajaj). Next time just tell me the title and I will get it digitally (jajajaj). I will send you the bill for my optometry appointment shortly.  Anyways, short book easy reading, probably the second saddest book I have ever read (see my review of What Made Maddy Run for the saddest). I do not really think the author is a great writer especially after reading Krakauer, Hanna, Lewis, and Larson, but hey I have written exactly 0 books so good for her for writing her story. There is going to be a second book (or maybe it is out already, I will have to check with Rachel) because this book only covers the first 18 (terrible) years of her life.
