Deep Work - Cal Newport

A niche book if you are interested in how to get more out of your time and efforts related to focusing on a craft. He touches on a lot of different techniques but the theme of the book is about getting extremely dialed into what you are working on. This seems to be counter productive to most businesses since open floor concepts are getting introduced a long with instant messengers. He is suggesting that this is not fruitful if you job does not depend on being accessible but instead producing work that requires deep thought. I read this book because I was fighting with the not being able to focus and always being on my phone during work. As a result I never sunk deep into my work and felt gross afterwards. His advice on not checking your phone when in line or something to distract you I found helpful and if you need to focus you can travel to a destination. Both of those sense to me.

A good book but I would say not something you pick up and read unless you have interest in the topic.
