A lot to say here. Super good book that lived up to the hype (unlike the alchemist lol). It is a bit long and perhaps even over researched at times. Even the author's story is amazing as she has some rare disease and wrote this and seabiscut despite of that. It is super well researched. I feel a little sad for phil because this could have easily been his story. Anyways phil is a beast. Harris is a genius. They would steal the map show it to him for 1 minute so he could memorize it (photographic memory) and then put it back from where they stole it. Pilsbury was also super critical during the air raid where they nearly died. At times in this book I almost cried not really because of sadness but because of pure emotion. Post war life is super hard. Louis struggled for a while. I wished he could have run again. Good lessons about forgiveness in this book. Louis became a really great person after he figured out his post war life. Good lessons about the circle of life in this book. We will all get old and die. The "bird" is the worst ever, and I think he must have realized this eventually. Everything changes with time. In some ways time does heal all wounds. 

I listened to this book. Listening was super good because I could cook and do sit ups and still be "reading." However I missed the photos and footnotes and stuff after the epilogue. In many ways audio is good but I think there are some tradeoffs as well. I am still trying to determine if one way is better than the other. To be continued on this point.

This may be top 10 but it is likely too long/too much research to be top 10. It is definitely a top 10 survival story if me and scott make a list for that specific category.
