Left to Tell - Immaculée Ilibagiza
So you think you have a tough life huh? The best indicator of a good book is a book that you just don't want to put down and the story she has to share makes you want to do exactly that. It's a personal story about her time in Rwanda during the time of the genocide. The insanity that ensues throughout this book is kind of hard to believe and honestly we are lucky to even hear from her side of the story. The concept of the 'other team' was taken to the extreme in the book but it's mind boggling how just being the 'other team' changes everything. Even these days we hate other football teams and now more prevalent is other political affiliation. Another prevalent topic throughout this book is her relationship with God. She relies heavily on him throughout the entire book but also shares her inner dialogue as she grapples with making sense of what all is happening. In her case it is in the extreme which is very interesting because I doubt most people have gotten to the devotion she had so it makes you wonder how much am I missing out on. But I think we can all take something from it whether you are a believe in god or just a believe in accordance of nature.
Brian put this on the top 10 list without me reading it and he was absolutely right. Bump it up in your list and read you won't regret it!
