Truman - David McCullough

This is a long book. It is probably one of the longer ones I have read (bible, team of rivals). It is what you would expect, a history of the life of Truman. He had a sometimes rough upbringing on a farm. He was sent to congress (i think) by the pendergast political machine. From what i can tell he was not a corrupt president. He campaigned a lot via train. I love the slogan "give em hell harry." Apparently "the buck stops here" was not that big of a slogan. He once told the age of a horse by looking at its gums. He also served in world war I. I believe he had a failed haberdashery and zinc mine. His presidential library sounds cool (maybe he worked there, i do not remember). I need to go visit it one day!

page it! if you like history and have time on your hands

p.s. the cover of the book is cool, it is like a giant head of truman
