I'm Glad My Mom Died - Jennette McCurdy

Interesting book

It's kind of the similar style of pulling the curtain behind an otherwise seemingly perfect life and telling the real story of how she got here but also along the way give a sense of encouragement and growth from it but this kind of fell flat. Firstly Id say it's probably better for a female audience and some parts are R rated. The story is very interesting and the life she lived was extremely harsh. You learn a lot about how her mother was extremely overbearing and the trauma that later wreaked havoc on her life from that. I think where I struggle is I couldn't tell if she was just plainly telling us the story or she was telling us the story as a combackstory. I can't quite tell and I think that's where it's slightly confusing since there a lot of gripes and struggle. Also it's kind of wild as a child you think people can do no harm and she thought her mother was a saint until later unpacking it in her mid 20's. I can't blame her, it's just so unfortunate how much influence parents have on your life. It had a lot of cool pieces related to nickelodeon which I grew up on and some personal thoughts that most people go through so it was good to see.

Interesting book, I did enjoy reading it but was overhyped in my opinion given the public appreciation for it or I think the public loved it.
