Extreme Ownership - Jock Willink and Leif Babin
This book is all about taking responsibility, how to make it so you can do that without being a bottleneck and effectively executing your plan. Jocko was is a navy seal that spent a large portion of his life in Afghanistan as a commanding leader. So while a lot of the books you will read are coming from people that are smart and read a lot. Jocko's advice comes from real life experiences. After the military he transitioned out and start a company that basically goes into businesses and helps them execute their plan or fix any issues within the organization that could be holding them back. His main point that he will say is you are literally responsible for everything. Take ownership. If your subordinate doesn't do something right it's not his fault its because you didn't tell him the plan clear enough. There are a lot of detailed information that you can list and carry around but also a lot of cool stories. I think the main thing which everyone knows is you have leaders with massive ego's that don't want to admit they are wrong or are a bottleneck because you have to do it their way. So him coming in and maybe not giving ground breaking advice but being an unbiased third-party makes the company make a move that would otherwise be a tougher one.
I enjoyed the book because it reminds you not to blame others for your issues. I think if I ever get into a leadership role I'd re-read this book. Pretty good but maybe not the most influential unless you lead others.
