Scar Tissue - Anthony Kiedis

Man oh man where do I even begin. When you see all of the lists that say all time must read book or top 10 non-fiction books if you don't see this book on there then that is a good indicator that the list is garbage. This book for me just showed me a whole other way of living and existing and enduring that I have never experience or thought about and that's why it's so good. On top of all of the journey and trials and tribulation you also get to hear how the music is made which is just magical. You hear the songs now and they just have a deeper meaning than ever before knowing what this dude went through. One of the major takeaways I got from this book is just completely being yourself. At one point he went out in black boots in an all pink dress and danced at a club for hours on end then ended up sleep on someone's lawn. While this is an extreme case it also proves he just didn't care what others thought. You should be completely yourself. It also helped him later on as he went on stage and did various acts that if someone was not confident in themselves or their ability then they would never do. The last piece is the struggle with addiction which was eye opening and unbelievable that he is still alive but also good to have experienced seeing it through the eyes of the abuser.

Can't say enough about this book. Amazing.
