river of doubt - candice millard
I have referenced millard in some other reviews. All her books (I have read them all jaja) are solid. This is the best of the four no doubt (lol). In many ways her books are only as good as the history because they are all based on unbelievable but true stories. They are all heavily cited. She is a genius in this sense. This one is also better than shackelton's stowaway and the ghosts of eden park, two other books that also tell true histories.
Basically after losing an election Teddy Roosevelt (from the bull moose party lol) decides to go to Brazil to chart an unknown river. Then all kinds of historically accurate but super crazy things happen. He almost dies and when he comes back no one believes his story. This book is well written and the description of the amazon is super good (the author used to write for national geographic so advantage millard). You will be either reading with your jaw dropped or on the edge of your seat. Once you finish you will rush to wikipedia to make sure it is true (spoiler, it is).
best of the millard books! page it! and tell a friend!! enjoy! you are welcome!!
p.s. apparently there is a 2018 movie about this expedition. I have not seen it, but I would bet it is good.

Insane book
