Meditations - Aurelius, Marcus

This is the book that changed my life. I don't really know why but essentially it just encapsulated and reinforced thoughts or ideas that I had that allows you to live a happy and fulfilling life. I think the main take aways I have are that shit is going to happen to you constantly. There will always be bad things going on but whether it affects your mood or doesn't is the question. So if being sad is a choice and you choose to never get sad then how would you ever be sad? Another thing is I always lived a life that was simple in terms of not buying fancy things, being smart with money, not looking for social validation. These things I inherently did without thinking. So when I got to this book that basically boiled it down to the things that matter are if you are living a virtuous life it made it so freaking clear. If you are living a virtuous life meaning: not lying, being nice to people, always being positive, treating people properly, respecting others, not jumping to judgement or condemning people for various reason then how can you be a bad person. Especially since these things ARE TOUGH. So it's a personal challenge all the while you can't let your ego grow and speak from an ivory tower. I always like doing hard things because others choose not too and this is the ultimate challenge because it's every day you go up to bat and only you know if you fail and honestly the world is against you so you are constantly fighting vices.

I can't recommend this book enough. It changed my life.
