Greenlights - Matthew McConaughey

 I read this digital but people (women) tell me to listen to the audio version because he reads it to you. This may be right. Containing a multi level treehouse, a pissing contest, and a wrestling match in africa, this book has it all. I think the treehouse story must be hyperbole but i cannot prove it. The funniest part of the book is his parents were married and divorced multiple times (wtf). His dad sounds like a "real character", although I am not sure if he was a great dad. The part about australia is super funny. Mad respect to Matthew for holding out and getting a role he wanted. Mad respect to Matthew for losing all that weight. He probably should have married camila (ella es muy linda) sooner. The wrestling match in africa is awesome (mad respect). I am not sure if I totally agree with the central theme of the book. I do believe to some extent greenlights exist. Absurdities also exist. I am a huge fan of interstellar. The part about the spanish script is too funny. I wonder how much being beautiful helped him in life. This book really helps you to realize that celebrities are people too. Sometimes you see them on TV and think they are just rich and hang out with other rich people and have perfect lives. There is always more to the story than that (for example see Scar Tissue). 

In any case, really good book, probably #20 in my top 20. Page it for sure and enjoy!!!

    Commenting now that I've read it. I agree with a lot of it. I think him being handsome was crucial in a lot of things but yeah who knows.

  If this was basketball I would shoot a 3 cuz I need a heat check jajaja. Much better than moneyball. Not as good as the big short. He has another book called going infinite that is about crypto that I want to read but I cannot find it on Libby for some reason.  The main thing I learned from this book is that who you know really matters and that having money really matters. These people got Michael out of the hood by accident and used their vast wealth and connections to help him make it to the nfl. Without their help he could have easily ended up dead or flipping burgers.  This book was a bit mean at times. Man’s Guide to Women - Gottman and Gottman - 2016

  I can’t say it is a good sign that I am reading this book. Jajajaj It is an embarrassment mostly but anyways knowledge is knowledge right? Jaja I can’t say this book was super helpful or matched my experience really. In some cases I disagree with the authors.  I think the main surprise of this book is the overall portrayal of women. I thought since it is 2026 women want to pay for the first date and aren’t emotional and don’t want to hold your hand and and don’t care if you hold the door for them and want to take control in sex and other relationship matters. This is what I get from watching tv and hearing about women wanting more equality. But this book basically says the opposite based on their studies: essentially that men have the power in the relationship and that women are fragile and need to be held and listened to. Choose Strong - Sally McRae - 2023

  Well where to begin? Thank you to Rachel Leach (soon to be Bowling??? :) jajajajajajaj lol) for gifting me this book. Also no thanks to Rachel Leach for giving me a hard copy book (jajajaj). Next time just tell me the title and I will get it digitally (jajajaj). I will send you the bill for my optometry appointment shortly.  Anyways, short book easy reading, probably the second saddest book I have ever read (see my review of What Made Maddy Run for the saddest). I do not really think the author is a great writer especially after reading Krakauer, Hanna, Lewis, and Larson, but hey I have written exactly 0 books so good for her for writing her story. There is going to be a second book (or maybe it is out already, I will have to check with Rachel) because this book only covers the first 18 (terrible) years of her life.
